This rich, ruby red smoothie bowl came about in honour of Valentine's Day, and not only is it rich in colour, it also contains heart-healthy beet!
Beets contain a high concentration of nitrates, which the body converts into nitric oxide, a molecule that dilates blood vessels, causing blood pressure to drop. Lower blood-pressure may lead to a reduced risk of heart attacks, heart failure and stroke. Beets can also improve athletic performance, optimizing oxygen use and improving stamina and energy, without being stimulating (we use beetroot in our Green Energy).
Which is all a long way of saying that this heart health and red smoothie bowl is perfect for LOVE DAY and really any day that you might have leftover plain roast beets around. I like roasting a bunch on the weekend and then using them in salads during the week.
And if you prefer a smoothie to a smoothie bowl, just add more liquid - either more plant milk or some water to thin it out.
