General Questions
Is Niyama Wellness a Canadian Company? Where are the products made?
Niyama Wellness is a 100% Canadian owned and operated company. It is owned and run by Jillian Mariani, a Canadian woman entrepreneur. All our supplements and bath soaks are made in Canada in GMP Health Canada-approved facilities. Our co-manufacturing partners are themselves small businesses that are family-run and truly care about the brands they make products for. Even our packaging is made in Canada – we could save money by purchasing packaging overseas but chose to support local and reduce the carbon footprint associated with our packaging materials as much as possible.
What does Niyama mean?
Niyama most simply means “good habits”. In Indian Yoga philosophy, Niyamas are recommended activities and habits for
healthy living, spiritual enlightenment and a liberated state of existence.
Are Niyama products only for people who do yoga?
Absolutely not! Although Niyama was inspired by a mindful approach to living well, our
products are completely suitable for anyone looking for top quality natural
health supplements made with clean, plant-based ingredients to support wellness
and active living. Our community uses
our products to help with feeling and performing at their best at any age as
well as reducing stress, improving sleep and energy, better gut health or just
adding more high-quality protein to their diets.
What is meant by “clean ingredients”?
We made Niyama plant-based and vegan-friendly so everyone could enjoy it.Niyama
is free of dairy, gluten and soy, and we don’t allow any added sugar, or
artificial colours, flavours, sweeteners or preservatives in our products. We hold ourselves to the values of honesty and transparency, and list
every single ingredient on our label so you know exactly what you are getting.
Are Niyama products tested for heavy metals and contaminants?
Yes — all of our ingestible products undergo rigorous third-party testing for lead, cadmium, arsenic, mercury, pesticides, molds, bacteria, and gluten. We only use ingredients that meet or exceed Health Canada’s safety limits. If a batch ever fails testing, we do not release it — quality and your safety always come first.
What are your natural flavours sourced from? Are they really natural?
Niyama Wellness is committed to only using 100% naturally derived flavours in our products. You will not find any artificial flavours, colours or sweeteners in any of our products now, in the past, or in the future.
We occasionally get questions asking where and how our natural flavours are sourced and extracted and from what. On our labels we typically list “natural flavours” without always specifying what the natural flavour is. This is in no way an attempt to make the sourcing opaque; it’s actually ensuring that our product labels match our NPN licence with Health Canada. Typically when we apply for a new NPN for a product that will have a flavour, we don’t specify what the flavour is, just that it is natural, as we want to be able to use the same NPN for different flavour variants of the same product. If we specified the flavour on the NPN application then the Product Licence would only apply to that flavour and we would have to get a new NPN for each flavour. But we will begin updating the package going forward to include the specific natural flavour used, even if it isn’t exactly what Health Canada wants, because it is more transparent, and that is one of our values.
Our natural flavours are just that: naturally extracted (via distillation, alcohol extraction or CO2) from the fruit in the
flavour name (for example the flavours in our Raspberry Lemonade flavoured Goddess Greens are naturally extracted via alcohol then concentrated from raspberries, lemon fruit and peel), or from vanilla beans or cocoa beans (for our vanilla and chocolate plant proteins), then concentrated. They are 100% naturally sourced with no hidden ingredients. We list “natural flavours” on our packaging not to hide anything, but because that it how it appears on our NPN (natural product number) licence application to Health Canada, and Health Canada wants it listed the same way on our packaging. We are gradually going to update our packaging to include the source of the natural flavour as well and hope that Health Canada does not take exception to this.
How Plant-Based Natural Flavours are
Created
Plant-based natural flavours are substances extracted from plants to capture their aroma, taste, and essence. These flavors are widely used in food, beverages, and other products including supplements. The process of creating these flavors typically
involves isolating and concentrating the desired compounds responsible for the plant's characteristic flavor. Here's how the process generally works:
Selection of Source Material
Plants with desirable flavours, such as vanilla beans, cacao pods, or pineapples, are chosen for extraction. These plants are often cultivated in specific regions to ensure the highest quality of flavour.
Harvesting
The plants are harvested at their peak ripeness to maximize the concentration of flavour compounds.
Extraction Methods
The specific compounds responsible for flavour are extracted using one or more methods, depending on the flavour being extracted:
Distillation: Involves steam or water to extract volatile flavour compounds.
Solvent Extraction: Uses food-safe solvents (like ethanol) to dissolve and extract flavour compounds.
CO₂ Extraction: Uses carbon dioxide under high pressure to capture flavour compounds without altering their quality.
Cold Pressing: Often used for oils from citrus fruits or other plant sources.
Purification and Concentration
The extracted flavor is refined and concentrated to create a potent essence or extract.
Blending
Some natural flavors are blended with other plant-derived compounds to achieve a more complex flavor profile.
Examples of Plant-Based Natural Flavors
1. Vanilla
Source:
Vanilla flavor is derived from vanilla beans, the pods of the Vanilla planifolia orchid.
Key
Compound: Vanillin is the primary compound that gives vanilla its sweet and creamy aroma.
Process:
Curing:
After harvesting, vanilla beans are cured through a combination of blanching, sweating, and drying, which develops their characteristic flavour.
Extraction:
The beans are soaked in an ethanol-water solution to extract vanillin and other flavor compounds.
The final product is vanilla extract or natural vanillin, which is distinct from synthetic vanillin (often made from lignin or guaiacol).
2. Chocolate
Source:
Chocolate flavor comes from cacao beans, the seeds of the Theobroma cacao tree.
Key
Compounds: The complex flavor arises from a mix of compounds, including theobromine, phenylethylamine, and over
600 volatile compounds.
Process:
Fermentation:
Cacao beans are fermented, which enhances the precursors of chocolate flavor.
Roasting:
Beans are roasted to develop their rich, deep flavor.
Extraction:
Cocoa mass, powder, or butter can be further processed to isolate chocolate flavors for use in other products.
3. Pineapple
Source:
Pineapple flavor is derived from the fruit of the Ananas comosus plant.
Key
Compounds: Compounds like ethyl
butyrate, methyl hexanoate, and lactones contribute to its sweet and tangy profile.
Process:
Juicing:
The juice of the pineapple is extracted.
Distillation:
Essential flavor compounds are isolated through steam distillation or solvent extraction.
The resulting pineapple flavour extract captures the fruity, tropical essence of the fresh fruit.
These natural flavour extracts are then incorporated into products to enhance taste while maintaining a clean-label appeal. Using plant-based natural flavours ensures a close match to the authentic taste and supports sustainability and our
preference for natural ingredients.
Do you ship to the US?
At this time, sadly we do not. We only ship Niyama within Canada. We ship free in Canada on orders over $75 CAD. Eventually we'd like to expand to the USA too, but the regulations are different for supplements so we will need USA compliant labels and separate inventory. We'll get there at some point
Who is the founder of Niyama Wellness?
Niyama’s founder Jillian was fortunate to spend her 20+ years corporate career in an industry that she loves (natural health supplements) and that is very much a part of the way she and her family live their lives. Jillian believes natural health supplements, along with a clean, predominantly whole food diet, good sleep, and a healthy dose of daily movement are essential for living well in today’s fast-paced world. And there are many amazing products out there to choose from. But even with all these choices, Jillian found that she was mixing and matching single ingredient products to try to come up with the perfect combinations to support her own optimal nutritional needs and to try to address some of her own health goals like reduced stress, better sleep & energy levels, and improved gut health. It was a complicated regime of swallowing handfuls of pills, not to mention time consuming and expensive. And Jillian felt that good wellness habits shouldn’t have to be so complicated, and they shouldn’t be something you dread or that feels like a chore. So, after leaving her Executive role as VP Marketing & Innovation in 2017, Jillian set out to create a line of products that would be ultra-effective, easy to understand and use, and enjoyable to take.
Is Niyama's packaging sustainable?
The short answer is that our packaging is as sustainable as possible while still protecting what is inside the package, and what those nutrients need for shelf-life and stability. 95% of our packaging is in the form of resealable pouches that currently have a 7-recycling rating, and our capsule products are in PET bottles, which are a 2-recycling (the best one). We used to have everything in PET because it was the most easily recycled, but then with so many reports coming out about how such a shockingly low amount of what we place in our recycle bins actually gets recycled, we moved to a strategy of reducing the absolutely amount of plastic used as much as possible, and the pouches use 80-85% less plastic than the corresponding PET jar or tub would use. At this time, compostable pouches do not protect the product inside to the extent needed, and our priority is a safe, effective supplement. Compostable packaging would take our shelf-life from 30 months on average down to 3 months, so it’s just not feasible.
In Canada, we cannot legally have a refill program for natural health supplements.
Natural supplements in Canada are regulated by the NNHPD (Natural and Non-Prescription Health Products Directorate), which is a division of Health Canada. To be sold in Canada, all NHP’s (Natural Health Products) must carry an NPN number on the front panel of the label, indicating they have been pre-approved for sale to Canadian consumers prior to sale, as well as the correct claims, directions and safety precautions and contraindications.
You can read more about this here: https://www.canada.ca/en/health-canada/services/drugs-health-products/natural-non-prescription/regulation.html
But basically, Health Canada looks at all your ingredients, the quantities, combinations and the site licence of your manufacturing plant (which has to undergo its own approval system which is very stringent and difficult) to ensure that you are not making false or exaggerated claims, or using ingredients that are unsafe or without scientific validation or safety data. In addition to carrying an NPN number and correct label info, each NHP must also carry the lot and expiry date. Part of this is to ensure consumers consume supplements prior to their best before date, but the other function is to ensure that if there ever is any problem with a product (negative reaction or need for a recall) it can be traced to the lot number and communicated and executed properly, to ensure safety of Canadian consumers. NHPs fall under the same regulatory body in Canada as other non-prescription or OTC medication - like Advil or Tylenol, or Contact Lens solution or eye drops to put it in context.
Canada and Australia are known globally for having the best, safest system for natural health products in the world. We jump through a lot of hoops and it is not easy, but in the end as a consumer too, I’m glad we have the system we do. It is very different from the USA where there is no pre-market approval required and supplements fall under Food regulations.
Which brings me to refillable containers - this is not something that Health Canada would approve for this category of products because there is no way to ensure 100% that the product is totally safe, and that the consumable health product isn’t compromised if we were to reuse and refill bottles. All products have to be filled in a GMP manufacturing plant that has been approved by Health Canada. Refilling would not be feasible in that doing it anywhere except for a licensed facility would not guarantee that filling occurred under sanitary conditions to guarantee the product was uncontaminated. And stamped with the correct lot/expiry info.
Are refills avialable for Niyama products?
The short answer is no. While it would be lovely to be able to offer a refill service like is now available for many natural products such as lotions, laundry care and even shampoo, this is not an option for Natural Health Supplements (NHPs). Natural Health Supplements in Canada are regulated by the NNHPD (Natural and Non-Prescription Health Products Directorate), which is a division of Health Canada. To be sold in Canada, all NHPs (Natural Health Products) must carry an NPN number on the front panel of the label, indicating they have been pre-approved for sale to Canadian consumers prior to sale, as well as the correct claims, directions and safety precautions and contraindications.

After Sweat Replenish (Formely after Sweat)
These are the questions we get most about After Sweat ( Formely After Sweat)
Q: What does this product do?
A: After Practice was designed to help replace and rebalance electrolytes after exercise, AND support muscle recovery and immune function.
Q; Is it only for after a workout or yoga class?
A: It is wonderfully refreshing after any type of exercise, but it is also a fantastic intra-workout drink. Because it contains electrolytes, it is also beneficial when you are dehydrated, on hot summer days, to help replenish after gastric upset (vomiting or diarrhea), or while traveling.
Q; Why are there aminos and electrolytes in it?
A: Both electrolytes and aminos will aid in muscle recovery, making it more efficient and helping reduce next day soreness. But the amino acid L-glutamine also has amazing gut health properties, and since the majority of our immune system resides in the gut, it helps to replenish the immune system, which gets taxed during strenuous exercise. We’ve also added vitamin C for immune health, as well as select trace minerals and powdered coconut water.
Q: I mixed After Practice in a glass with a spoon but it didn’t all dissolve. Is it ok to take?
A: Absolutely. The amino acid L-leucine is a bit resistant to dissolving completely, as is the powdered coconut water. If you keep stirring it will dissolve, but the easiest way to use it is to shake it up in a glass or stainless-steel water bottle
Q; What is the sweetener?A: A combination of two natural, plant-based zero calorie sweeteners: Monk fruit with a tiny bit of Stevia. Most people tell us they can’t taste the stevia. The monk fruit tends to soften it.
Q: I have purchased this product in the past but it tastes a bit different this time. Is it ok?
A: Yes. At Niyama we only use natural flavours and sweeteners, so growing conditions and crops play a big role in how the flavours come across from one batch to the next. With artificial flavours and sweeteners you can get the exact same flavour profile every time, but with natural ingredients there are always variations. Our team works with each lot, trying to blend these premium natural ingredients carefully to match our approved taste profile – which is also impacted by some of the plant ingredients which can also vary in the intensity of natural colour and flavour they provide. It is a bit of an art, and minor variations are to be expected.
Q: How many calories are in each serving?
A: Trace calories (1-3) and zero sugar.
Q: How does it taste?
A; Light and refreshing, not too sweet. It has been compared to a less sweet pina colada with a watery mouthfeel, or pineapple coconut water, but without the aftertaste that sometimes comes with coconut water. You can also adjust the taste/sweetness by adding more or less water.
Q: I hate coconut. Will I like this product?
A: Probably not – sorry!
Goddess Greens Questions
Goddess Greens FAQs
Q: Honestly, how does it taste?
A: Seriously amazing – you won’t believe something with so many nutrients can taste this delicious.
Q: What is the sweetener?
A: Stevia – very little, and it really doesn’t have that stevia aftertaste.
Q: How is it different from other greens or superfood powders?
A: Not only are all the plants organically grown, but each scoop provides over 50% of the recommended daily value of vitamins and minerals – all from the natural food sources in the powder. Most greens powders just list what is in the product from an ingredient perspective, but Goddess Greens tells you what YOU are getting out of it. And each scoop provides the antioxidant equivalent of 6-8 servings of veggies and fruits.
Q: Is Goddess Greens the same as AG1 / Athletic Greens from the USA?
A: In many ways, Goddess Greens & Superfoods is a very similar product to AG1, and we do have many former AG1 users regularly taking Goddess Greens. Both are great products, and will provide a lot of general health benefits to those taking them. We have a blog comparing the two formulas that we hope helps.
Q: Why are there less vitamins and minerals in Goddess Greens vs AG!?
A: Great question! We don’t add vitamins or minerals to Goddess Greens. All the vitamins and minerals in the formula are naturally occurring from the fruit and veggie powders, so they are all in food form, making it super easy for your body to break down and use those nutrients. There is nothing wrong with adding vitamins and minerals to a product; we add them to our Clean Plant Protein because pea protein is low in those nutrients. But we don’t add them to our greens and superfoods because we believe the reason most of us want to take a greens and superfoods powder is to make up for not always getting the recommended 6-8 servings of veggies and fruits daily, and for the declining nutrient content of modern foods. We have sourced nutrient dense, organically grown veggie and fruit powders that do provide the nutrients most of us are missing, in their most absorbable form. This makes Goddess Greens a 4 in one product: greens, reds, multi, and prebiotic fibre all in one.
Q: What benefits can I expect from taking Goddess Greens daily?
A: Most people that take our Goddess Greens report that their energy levels are better and more consistent, improved digestion and gut health, and in many cases clearer skin and better immune function (less colds).
Q: When should I take Goddess Greens and how?
A: We recommend taking 1 scoop of Goddess Greens in cool water in the morning, prior to breakfast or coffee. Mix well with a spoon, or frother. It can also be added to smoothies or juice if you prefer, but it’s quite delicious in water only.
Q: Is Goddess Greens low FODMAP?
A: No. the inulin prebiotic fibre and the cruciferous veggies in Goddess Greens are not suitable for low FODMAP diets.
Q: Are there probiotics in Goddess Greens?
A: No, we have not included probiotics in our formula. Instead we have included 2 types of prebiotic fibres, both from organic sources in the form of inulin and acacia. These prebiotic fibres nourish and feed your own microbiome, increasing the good bacteria strains in your gut.
Clean Plant Protein Product Questions
Here's what people ask us about Clean Plant Protein:
Q: What is the protein source?
A: Niyama’s Plant Protein is sourced from 100% organically grown fermented pea protein isolate. The yellow split peas in our protein are grown in Saskatoon, Canada
Q: Did you consider using a blend of plant proteins?
A: Yes, we looked at blending several sources with organic pea including brown rice, hemp, coconut. Brown rice can sometimes have heavy metal traces so we ruled that one out early on. We love the nutritional profile delivered by hemp and coconut (additional good fats and fibre) but really wanted to make Niyama’s plant protein taste really good, not just “good for plant protein”. We believe the best protein powder is the one you actually use each day. And our organic pea protein source delivered a super clean nutrient profile and a mild, pleasing taste with great mouthfeel.
Q: Why is it so smooth and not chalky?
A: Our pea protein isolate is milled into an exceptionally fine powder – to the consistency of baking flour or icing sugar. When you open the container, you can see just how fluffy it is. So, it mixes beautifully without any gritty texture.
Q: Will it cause stomach issues? I sometimes get gas/bloating from pea protein.
A: To date we are thrilled to say that we have had zero reports of any gas, bloating or stomach upset after taking Niyama’s plant protein. Even with people who have experienced issues with other pea-based proteins in the past. We don’t have science to support this, but there is a theory that many of the digestive issues associated with pea protein are usually with non-organic sources. Yellow split peas are a heavily sprayed crop when grown conventionally, and we don’t know the levels of glyphosate (chemical pesticide) that remain in non-organic pea proteins, but they do tend to be hard on the digestive system and not easily tolerated. However, if you have an allergy to pea protein we obviously do not recommend you try Niyama’s plant protein.
Q: What is the sweetener?
A: Niyama’s Clean Plant Protein is sugar-free, stevia-free, and of course free of any artificial sweeteners. This costs more to make due to cost differences inherent in working with monk fruit over stevia. Monk fruit is significantly more expensive and you need to use more.
Q: Are the vitamins and minerals added or naturally occurring in the pea protein?
A: The natural vitamins and minerals are added to the plant protein so you are essentially getting a protein and multivitamin supplement in one.
Q: Does Niyama’s Clean Plant Protein
Q: Does Niyama’s Clean Plant Protein contain lead or other heavy metals?
Absolutely not. At Niyama, we take ingredient safety seriously. Our Clean Plant Protein does not contain brown rice protein, which is often high in lead and heavy metals. Instead, we use Canadian-grown, organic, fermented yellow split pea protein — tested for heavy metals, pesticides, bacteria, and gluten by both our supplier and again by us before every batch is released. Because it’s a Health Canada–approved Natural Health Product (NPN), it meets strict third-party testing and safety standards. We’ve proudly never had a batch fail testing in over six years.
Immune Warrior Product Questions
FAQs for our Immune warrior
Q: Can I take this every day?
A: Yes – you can take Immune Warrior preventatively, especially during the cold & flu season, but you can also start taking it as soon as you feel something “coming on” or whenever you are feeling run down and vulnerable.
Q: What does it taste like?
A: It tastes quite pleasant – the natural flavours used are orange and pineapple, and it’s not too sweet.
Q: What should I mix it with?
A: Immune Warrior was designed to taste great when mixed with plain water. It tastes great in cold water, but is also delicious and soothing mixed with kettle-boiled water. If you want to get fancy, you can also add lemon juice, fresh ginger and a cinnamon stick too.
Q: How fast does it work?
A: The Puremune/Immudyne beta glucans in the formula actually have clinicals showing that the ingredient starts working to boost immune response in as little as 3 hours. The other natural support ingredients vary in how long they take to work, but the formula will help support stronger immunity for prevention, and also to support shorter, easier4 recovery from viruses.
Glow & Flow Product Questions
Q&A for Glow & Flow Collagen Booster
What is the collagen source in Glow & Flow?
A: There is no collagen in Glow & Flow because it there is no plant source of collagen. Collagen is only present in animals (including humans), and is usually sourced from bovine hides or other waste parts, fish skin, and poultry sternum.
Q: How does Glow & Flow boost collagen?
A: Glow & Flow provides your body with the correct building blocks to make more of its own collagen. It contains the 3 vegan sourced amino acids (Proline, Glycine, Lysine) needed to make collagen, in the ratios needed. It also provides a full gram of buffered vitamin C, which is needed to synthesize collagen.
Q: How much protein is in Glow & Flow?
A: Glow & Flow contains zero protein per scoop. It is not a complete protein as it only contains the 3 aminos needed to make collagen. This is deliberate, as if you provide a full amino profile protein, the body will use that to repair and make lean muscle. That it itself is a positive thing, but there may not be enough proline or glycine leftover to make more collagen. This formula cannot be used by the body to repair or make muscle tissue, it can only be used to make collagen to improve the condition of skin, joints, hair, nails.
Q: What are the other ingredients in Glow & Flow and why?
A: We’ve included biotin, for hair skin, nails support as well as both vegan sourced hyaluronic acid and marine trace minerals to help with retaining moisture in all membrane including skin and joints. After the age of 30, as collagen production slows and collagen breakdown exceeds it, we also begin losing moisture, which intensifies as we age, particularly during perimenopause and menopause. These two ingredients help to retain moisture. Hyaluronic acid is often applied topically to the skin, but also works so well when taken orally – using both just improves your results.
Q: What is the source of the vegan hyaluronic acid?
A: Vegan HA is fermented in a lab to be “nature identical”. It starts with a naturally occurring bacterial strain that naturally contains hyaluronic acid, which is then fermented to obtain the desired molecular weight needed, and then isolated so there is zero bacteria remaining in the finished ingredient – just hyaluronic acid. In this case the starting material is streptococcal bacteria, but zero strep remains in the finished ingredient or in the formula and it is completely safe.
Q: How long does it take to work?
A: It will absolutely vary by individual, but general feedback is that people notice more comfort in their joints within a couple weeks, stronger nails comes next, and the skin benefits will take longer, at least 4 weeks or so to see more “glow” and softer lines. We’ve had feedback after several months on increased new hair growth and faster hair growth too.
Hey Relax Magnesium Powder Questions
Hey Relax FAQs
Q: What form of Magnesium is used in Hey Relax?
A: We use only pure magnesium bisglycinate as the magnesium source in Hey Relax. There are benefits with all forms of magnesium, but bisglycinate has the most evidence for absorption, gastric tolerance (no loose stools or urgency!), and relaxing/calming effect on both muscles and the entire central nervous system. It really is the Porsche of magnesium so we chose that one.
Q: Is the 200mg of Magnesium per scoop elemental magnesium?
A: Yes
Q: When & how should i take it?
A: Hey Relax is best enjoyed in the evening when you want to wind down. You can also have it just before bed if you prefer it as a bedtime drink. It tastes delicious in either cold or kettle-boiled water, and many people that use it say it satisfies their evening sweet craving at the same time as helping them unwind before bed.
Q: Is there sugar in it?
A: No. Hey Relax is sweetened with stevia, a natural plant-based zero calorie sweetener that has no impact on blood sugar. And it’s absolutely delicious!
Sleep Like Buddha Product Question
Common Questions for Sleep Like Buddha:
Q: Why is there no melatonin in Sleep Like Buddha?
A: Melatonin can be a wonderful supplement for many, and is something our bodies produce naturally in our pineal gland to help regulate our sleep/wake cycle. Its role in regulating circadian rhythm is why it is so often recommended for jet lag or shift workers. Melatonin in itself may not help you fall asleep during times of stress though, and many people don’t tolerate it well, experiencing morning grogginess, vivid nightmares, headaches. There is also a wide variation on the amount needed for benefit by those that do use it successfully – from as little as 1mg to 10mg. When we created Sleep Like Buddha our objective was to help support better sleep for those experiencing stress-related sleep issues. Our founder Jillian, has struggled with stress-related insomnia on and off for much of her adult life, and the ingredients in Sleep Like Buddha are the ones that have allowed her to return to regular, restful sleep over the years, without groggy mornings. Sleep Like Buddha does contain 5-HTP, which our bodies will use to make both melatonin and serotonin; but because our body will make what we need and not more, you don’t get that groggy hangover feeling.
Q: How long will this product take to work?
A: That will depend a lot on the individual. Many have had great success on the first night, while for others it has taken a week of taking it every night to experience full benefit. Most people will notice a significant difference after the third night, and then even more benefit with ongoing use. Even if you do not experience a good sleep on night one, we recommend you take it for a full week consecutively before you decide if it is right for you.
Q: When & how should I take it?
A: If your main issue is falling asleep, take 2 capsules 30 minutes before you want to go to sleep for one full week, then taper off to 1 capsule and see if that is enough. You can always go back up to 2 if needed.
If your issue is waking up at 2 am or 3 am and not being able to get back to sleep easily, take 1 capsule 30 minutes before bed, and a second capsule when you wake in the middle of the night. As long as you have 2-3 hours left in your sleep cycle you will not experience grogginess in the morning. You may find over time, you don’t always need the second capsule, aas your sleep cycle starts to reset to a healthier pattern.
Q: I take prescription sleeping pills, can I take this with them?
A: No, it is not aa good idea to combine them.
Q: I am taking a prescription anti-anxiety/depressant. Can I take Sleep Like Buddha?A: No, you should check with your health care practitioner first
Q: Do I have to continue taking Sleep Like Buddha once I start sleeping better again?A: That is up to you. Some are able to use it for a month and then are sleeping well on their own. Our bodies are pretty amazing and we can “reset” our sleep to healthy sleep patterns. If you are sleeping well without it, by all means stop taking it. And if your sleep issues come back, because, well life happens, Sleep Like Buddha will be there for you.
Q: I have terrible insomnia. What else can I do besides take Sleep Like Buddha?
A: Difficulty sleeping at night can also be caused by stress during the day. Better sleep at night leads to better days, and less daytime stress will lead to better sleep at night. Sleep Like Buddha works well our Hey Relax Magnesium – a powder that you mix with water and drink in the evening to help you wind down. It comes in two flavours, tastes delicious and is the perfect step 1 in our bedtime routine. It has magnesium glycinate, GABA, inositol and tart cherry to support de-stressing and better sleep.
We also recommend practicing good sleep hygiene. Our formulas are very effective, but you also need to develop healthy bedtime habits for optimal benefit. Check out our blog: Sleep Hygiene 101
Hey Relax Mg drink FAQ
Hey Relax Mg Drink
Q: What form of magnesium is in Hey Relax?A: Hey Relax contains 200mg of elemental magnesium all from magnesium glycinate/bisglycinate. The glycinate form of magnesium has been proven to be extremely easy to absorb (it’s closest to food form so the body recognizes and uses it easily) with no laxative effect or digestive challenges. It’s also the best form of magnesium for those seeking to manage stress and improve sleep.
Q: What are the other ingredients in Hey Relax?A: We’ve also included GABA, Inositol and Tart Cherry. GABA increases the alpha brain waves, which are the calm relaxing ones, while Inositol improves neurotransmitter health and improves mood, and Tart Cherry is a natural source of melatonin to support sleep, without grogginess the next day. Inositol and Magnesium in the amounts in Hey Relax are also excellent for anyone with PCOS.
Q: When and how should I take Hey Relax?A: We recommend taking Hey Relax in the evening, as the first step in your winding down, bedtime routine. Just mix one scoop of either flavour in cold or hot water, stir to thoroughly combine, and enjoy. As a side bonus, it may help curb evening sugar cravings without consuming any sugar because the flavours are so juicy. For most people it will help them relax, let go of the day, and sleep better when they do go to bed. For those more sensitive to GABA, it may be better to take closer to bedtime if you find it makes you sleepy, as opposed to just relaxed.

Sleep like Buddha & Achy Achy bath soak-
Q: When I open my bath salts there seems to be a lot of oil in the bag – is the product ok?
A: Absolutely. Our bath soaks are formulated with a higher load of essential oils than most bath salts. We do this because we really want the aromatherapy benefits to last for the whole bath, not just when the salts first hit the water. We think you should be able to soak for 30 minutes and still enjoy the essential oils. Overtime, and when exposed to extreme temperatures or if the bag is left open a bit, the oil may separate from the salts as the salts soften. Just kind of squish the oils and salts in the bag to distribute and use under running bath water as usual. When you get to the bottom of the bag, rinse out the bag under running water as you want to get all the essential oil goodness out – and generally the last bath of the bag is the best one for this reason.
Just Hold me bath soak-
Q: My bag of Just Hold me is a bit puffy – is it ok to use?
A: Yes, it is totally ok to use. We are finding that when exposed to hot weather or humidity, the baking soda and coconut milk powder create a puffing effect in the bag. The product inside remains completely undamaged and opening the bag or even piercing with a pin will release the trapped gas. In future we may vent the bags.
You’ve Gut This FAQs
You’ve Gut this
Q: What is resistant starch?
A: Solnul resistant potato starch is a natural source of resistant starch sourced from Manitoba grown potatoes, which promotes healthy digestion and strengthens the gut lining. When starches are digested, they typically break down into glucose, raising blood sugar levels. But because resistant starch is not digested in the small intestine, it doesn’t raise blood sugar levels. Gut health is improved as fermentation in the large intestine makes more good bacteria and less bad bacteria in the gut. Healthy gut bacteria can improve glycemic control. Other benefits of resistant starch include increased feeling of fullness, treatment and prevention of constipation, decrease in cholesterol, and lower risk of colon cancer. Resistant starch is fermented slowly, so it is well tolerated and causes much less gas than other fibres.
Q: Is this the same product as MS Prebiotic?
A: No and Yes. MS Prebiotic is 100% Solnul Resistant Starch, so yes, the resistant starch is the same source and supplier (and we think it’s the BEST!). But You’ve Gut This also includes a second form of prebiotic fibre from organic Acacia, as well as probiotics and l-glutamine, making it a total gut health support fibre powder.
Q: How much fibre is in each serving?
A: 5 g of fibre per scoop.
Q: How much You’ve Gut This can I take dialy?
A: You can take up to 2 scoops daily, providing 10 g of fibre. We recommend starting slow though, with half a scoop or 1 scoop daily and then if 1 scoop isn’t enough, you can increase to two scoops daily, one in the morning and one later in the day or evening.
Q: What should I mix it with?
A: You’ve Gut This is completely tasteless so you can mix it with anything – water, juice, smoothies, even into your lattes or teas, or add to other Niyama powders. We love adding it to Goddess Greens in the morning, and into Hey Relax before bedtime.
