Niyama Wellness is a 100% Canadian Made, Owned & Operated, Woman-owned Small Business

Niyama Wellness – 100% Canadian Made, Owned & Operated by a Female Entrepreneur

Being Canadian is something I’ve always felt deeply grateful for. It’s a privilege—one that I never take for granted. I was lucky enough to grow up here, receive my education here, and build my career working for incredible Canadian businesses. In my twenties, when I backpacked around the world, I proudly displayed that little maple leaf on my pack, knowing how fortunate I was to carry a Canadian passport. My husband and I have tried to instill the same appreciation in our children—because being Canadian isn’t just a nationality; it’s an opportunity and a responsibility.

When I started Niyama Wellness in 2019 (though the journey began even earlier), I already had years of experience in the natural health supplement industry. I had the privilege of working exclusively with Canadian brands, which, in hindsight, was a huge gift. Unlike many global corporations that simply tweak foreign products to fit the Canadian market, the companies I worked for created products designed for Canadians, by Canadians. That experience shaped my philosophy, and when it came time to launch my own brand, there was never any question—Niyama would be as Canadian as possible.

Why Supporting Canadian Brands Matters More Than Ever

Right now, we’re standing at an economic crossroads. With tariffs on the rise and a potential trade war with the U.S. looming, it’s never been more critical to support small Canadian businesses. Every dollar spent on a Canadian brand keeps jobs here, strengthens our economy, and ensures we remain self-reliant. If we don’t support our own businesses, who will?

We have world-class manufacturers, farmers, artisans, and entrepreneurs right here in Canada.? Buying Canadian means investing in our future, keeping wealth within our communities, and ensuring that our businesses continue to thrive—especially in uncertain times.

Canadian Made Products

Niyama’s supplements are proudly made in Ontario, and our bath soaks are crafted in Northern Ontario. Our manufacturing partners are not faceless corporations—they are family-owned, small-to-medium-sized businesses that treat Niyama Wellness like one of their own. That kind of partnership is rare, and it’s something I value deeply. Choosing to produce locally isn’t always the cheapest option, but it’s the right one.

Canadian Made Packaging

Sustainability is a core value for us, but packaging supplements is tricky—we need materials that keep products fresh for 24+ months while minimizing environmental impact. While fully compostable options aren’t viable yet (they’d shorten shelf life to just three months), we use the least plastic possible: resealable bags that reduce plastic use by 75-80% compared to tubs or jars. Our bottles are made from the most easily recycled plastics available.

And yes, we could save money by outsourcing packaging to China or Korea—companies approach me with offers all the time. But every time I see those savings, I think about the Canadian businesses I’d be turning my back on. That’s not who we are. Our resealable bags and labels are made right here in GTA, Ontario because keeping our supply chain as local as possible is a commitment I stand by.

Sold in Canada, For Canadians

Right now, Niyama is only available in Canada. While I’d love to expand globally one day, my priority is serving Canadians first. Whether you buy directly from our website or from one of our amazing retail partners (who are also small Canadian businesses who have taken a chance on my little brand), every single purchase matters. People often ask, “What’s better—buying directly from you or through a retailer?” My answer is always the same: whatever works best for you. Either way, you’re supporting Canadian businesses, and I’m incredibly grateful.

100% Owned & Operated by a Female Entrepreneur

That’s me—Jillian. A former supplement industry executive turned entrepreneur, creating products I want to take myself (and trust for my family, including my three daughters) and recommend to wellness seekers all over Canada. Every formula is made with clean ingredients, effective dosages, and delicious flavors that make taking supplements feel like a treat. That’s what Niyama is all about—Good Habits, Powered by Plants.

The Bottom Line

Supporting Canadian brands isn’t just about patriotism—it’s about protecting our economy, our jobs, and our future. As we face increasing economic uncertainty, every purchase is a choice. So the next time you shop, ask yourself: Can I buy this from a Canadian company? Because when you choose Canadian, you’re not just buying a product—you’re building a stronger Canada for all of us.

From the bottom of my heart, thank you for supporting Niyama, and by extension, so many other Canadian businesses. It truly makes a difference.
